A Practice Built on
Patience and Precision
Sukhothai Timepiece was founded on a simple belief — that a watch, whatever its age or origin, deserves care that matches its engineering.
Return to HomeHow Sukhothai Timepiece Came to Be
Sukhothai Timepiece opened in Nakhon Ratchasima in 2009, started by Khun Wiroj Phensri — a watchmaker who trained under a Swiss-qualified technician in Chiang Mai before returning to the northeast to establish his own practice.
The name draws on the quiet, considered craftsmanship associated with the Sukhothai period — a tradition of working carefully, without haste. It seemed the right spirit for a workshop where the smallest components demand full attention.
Over fifteen years, the atelier has grown through word of mouth. Clients bring in everything from worn quartz dailies needing a new cell to heirloom pocket watches with movements no longer supported by manufacturers. Each one is assessed on its own terms.
Mission & Values
Honesty First
We describe what we find accurately. If a watch is not worth the cost of a full service, we say so.
Appropriate Care
Every piece receives the level of attention that its condition, history, and value warrant — not a fixed protocol applied regardless.
Clear Documentation
Every service is recorded in writing. You leave with a clear account of what was done and what was found.
Realistic Timelines
Schedules are set honestly at the outset and communicated promptly if anything changes.
Who Works on Your Watch
Khun Wiroj Phensri
Principal Watchmaker
Trained in Chiang Mai under Swiss-qualified instruction, Wiroj has serviced mechanical and automatic movements for over fifteen years. He leads all full-service and restoration work personally.
Khun Nanthida Tongchai
Restoration Specialist
Nanthida focuses on case and dial work within bespoke restoration commissions. Her background in fine metalwork gives her an eye for period-correct finishing that respects the watch's original character.
Khun Panya Srisuk
Client Liaison
Panya handles intake, documentation, and communication with clients. She ensures written summaries are clear, timelines are kept, and any questions are answered promptly and without technical jargon.
How We Work
Pre-Service Assessment
Every watch is examined under magnification before any service begins. Findings are documented and discussed with the owner before work proceeds.
Correct Lubricants
We use grade-specific horological oils and greases for each movement type. Incorrect lubrication causes accelerated wear — this step is taken seriously.
Timing Verification
Mechanical and automatic movements are tested on a timing machine across multiple positions. Results are included in the written service summary.
Water Resistance Check
Where appropriate, case integrity is tested after reassembly. Seals replaced during service are rated to manufacturer specification or current equivalent.
Secure Storage
Watches in our care are stored in a dedicated, locked area with climate control. Each piece is individually catalogued on intake with a signed receipt provided.
Client Privacy
Client information and watch details are held in confidence and used only for service purposes. We do not share ownership records or contact details with third parties.
Watch Repair and Restoration in Nakhon Ratchasima
Sukhothai Timepiece offers three distinct services — an Essential Care Visit for battery and general maintenance needs, a Full Mechanical Service for automatic and hand-wound movements requiring complete overhaul, and a Bespoke Restoration Commission for antique and fine watches needing extended, documented work.
The atelier is located on Mittraphap Road in central Nakhon Ratchasima, accessible to clients across Korat and the surrounding province. Watches can also be discussed by telephone or email before an in-person visit is arranged.
Many of the watches brought to us are Swiss or Japanese movements — Seiko, Citizen, Tudor, Omega, and similar calibres make up a significant portion of full service work. We also see Thai and regional pieces that require care not widely available locally. Our watchmaker's experience across a wide range of movements means that unfamiliar calibres are researched rather than guessed at.
For clients with inherited or antique watches, the Bespoke Restoration Commission offers a patient, well-documented path. No two such pieces are the same, and the commission process reflects that — scope, parts sourcing, and pacing are all discussed openly before a single component is touched.
We do not use generic service schedules or off-the-shelf lubricants. Each watch is treated as the individual piece of engineering it is. That is the basis on which Sukhothai Timepiece has built its practice.
