Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 12 May 2025  ·  Effective: 12 May 2025

These Terms and Conditions set out the agreement between Sukhothai Timepiece and clients who use our watch repair and restoration services. We have written them to be clear and straightforward. If anything is unclear, please contact us before proceeding.

1. Who We Are

Sukhothai Timepiece is a watch repair and restoration atelier located at 27 Mittraphap Road, Mueang, Nakhon Ratchasima 30000, Thailand. We can be reached by telephone at +66 44 247 86 31 or by email at [email protected].

By bringing a watch to the atelier or submitting an enquiry through our website, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and Conditions in full.

2. Services Offered

Sukhothai Timepiece provides three primary service levels:

  • Essential Care Visit (฿4,500): Battery or basic service needs, seal checks, and exterior cleaning, with a written health summary.
  • Full Mechanical Service (฿10,400): Complete disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication, regulation, timing report, and water-resistance check.
  • Bespoke Restoration Commission (from ฿17,800): A patient, individually scoped restoration covering movement rebuilding, case and dial work where appropriate, and parts sourcing. Each commission is agreed with the client in advance.

All services are carried out by qualified horological staff at our Nakhon Ratchasima atelier. We reserve the right to decline a service if we assess that we cannot carry it out to an appropriate standard for a particular timepiece.

3. Estimates and Pricing

Prices listed are base prices. The actual cost may differ where a watch requires additional work not apparent at the time of intake — for example, unexpectedly worn components or seized parts. In these cases, we will contact you before proceeding and provide a revised estimate for your approval.

We will not carry out work above the agreed estimate without your explicit consent. If you decline the additional work, we will re-assemble the watch to the best possible state and return it to you, charging only for the assessment and any work already completed.

All prices are in Thai Baht (฿) and include VAT at the applicable rate unless stated otherwise.

4. Watch Intake and Assessment

When you bring your watch to the atelier, our staff will issue a written intake receipt recording the watch's description, visible condition, and the service requested. Please review this document carefully before leaving your watch with us.

It is your responsibility to disclose any known issues, prior repairs, or relevant history of the watch at the time of intake. This helps us assess the piece accurately and take appropriate care.

For Bespoke Restoration Commissions, an initial assessment appointment is arranged before a formal quotation is issued. No work is begun until both parties have agreed in writing to the scope and cost.

5. Parts and Materials

Where worn or damaged parts require replacement, we use original manufacturer parts where available. Where original parts are not available or are cost-prohibitive for the service level, we will use quality equivalent components. You will be informed of this where it is material to the watch's character or value, particularly for fine or antique pieces.

Replaced parts removed from your watch are available for return on request. Please ask at the time of intake if you wish to retain them.

6. Turnaround Times

Indicative turnaround times are as follows:

  • Essential Care Visit: approximately 2–4 working days
  • Full Mechanical Service: approximately 2 weeks
  • Bespoke Restoration Commission: agreed individually; restoration work is paced to the piece

These are estimates and not binding commitments. Turnaround may be affected by parts availability, the condition of the watch on opening, or the volume of work at the atelier. We will keep you informed of any significant delay and contact you if the timeline changes materially.

7. Care of Your Watch

While your watch is in our care, we treat it with the same respect we would our own. The watch remains your property at all times. We hold watches securely on our premises and do not sub-contract work to third parties without your prior agreement.

In the event of accidental damage occurring during service, we will contact you promptly, explain what has happened, and discuss appropriate resolution. We carry professional indemnity coverage appropriate to our work.

We are not liable for pre-existing faults, damage, or deterioration that existed before intake and was noted on the intake receipt, or that was not disclosed at intake.

8. Payment

Payment is due in full upon collection of the watch. We accept cash, bank transfer, and common card payments. Watches will not be released until payment has been received and cleared.

For Bespoke Restoration Commissions, we may request a deposit of up to 50% of the agreed commission cost before work begins. This will be discussed and agreed at the time the commission is confirmed.

9. Collection and Unclaimed Watches

We will notify you when your watch is ready for collection by phone or email. We ask that you collect your watch within 30 days of notification.

If a watch remains uncollected after 60 days from notification, despite reasonable attempts to contact you, we reserve the right to charge a storage fee. If a watch remains uncollected after 6 months and we have been unable to reach you, we may seek to recover our costs through a formal process under Thai law, with proceeds applied to outstanding charges. We will make every reasonable effort to contact you before taking such a step.

10. Limitation of Liability

Our liability to you in connection with any service is limited to the cost of that service. We are not liable for any consequential, indirect, or special losses arising from the service or from any delay in completing it.

We make no representations about the market value, investment potential, or saleability of any watch, before or after service.

11. Cancellations

You may withdraw your watch at any stage before service is complete. We will charge for any work already carried out and any parts already ordered specifically for your watch. If you decide not to proceed after an initial assessment visit, no charge is made for the assessment itself unless otherwise agreed.

For Bespoke Restoration Commissions where a deposit has been paid, the deposit will be retained if you withdraw after work has begun, to cover the work and materials already committed.

13. Governing Law
